New Year’s greetings and all best wishes for you from Nicky’s Blog!

Just a quick note to wish you all a very happy New Year indeed!
May 2012 bring you love, laughter and light.

I just thought I’d share some of my highlights from last year… and a preview of things to come for Nicky Wells, author, in 2012.  First of all, some beautiful flowers for you.  I wish there was a scent plug-in: their fragrance is amazing and somewhat unexpected at this time of year!

Looking back at 2011…

For me, 2011 was an amazing year in many respects.  Sophie’s Turn finally saw the light of day; I made lots of fantastic new friends in the blogging world and had a fabulous time conducting a virtual book tour.  Thank you to everybody who made that possible:  you know who you are!  I learnt lots–about blogging, for starters, but also Tweeting, Facebooking and publishing.  Compared to last year this time, my knowledge base has increased a hundredfold! That’s quite a lot of learning.  The year closed for me with not one but two amazing radio interviews.  I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed those experiences, and I hope to do some more this year.

…and forward to 2012:

Speaking of….  This year will bring many exciting events.  My writing highlight will be the completion of part 2 of my rock star romance trilogy and its release in the summer, probably in August.  Speaking more personally, the kids will turn five and seven respectively: my God, how time flies!  There will be birthday parties and swimming events and Beavers outings and school trips and INSET days and all manner of exciting occasions adding spice to my life and valuable inspiration to my writing.  Who knows… maybe Sophie will be a mum one day too?

What’s with the flowers?!?

Why did I put in a picture of a flower, you’re asking just before you go.  Well.  Normally, I love the winter.  Snow, ice, cold–bring it on.  This winter has been a bit of a wash out so far, and I am sick of it.  Just before the Christmas holidays, I was given a container with bulbs by the Year 1 classes that I work with in my local primary school.  Imagine my surprise and delight when the flowers appeared just after Christmas!  To me, this was a wonderful symbol for the start of new life, a new year, and hope.  What could be more apt at this time, even if it isn’t quite spring yet?  I certainly need hope and light this year… Don’t we all?

So with that–take care, and I wish you every success and happiness for your own personal 2012.  See you soon…. xx 🙂
