It’s Music Monday!
Happy Monday! Last week, I celebrated living in the UK for 20 years. There’s a lot of music to go with those 20 years and a lot of songs vying for position as ‘top theme song’ to my life. In truth, however, there are many themes, and inevitably I’ve brought you a lot of those songs already.
However, this one is a fresh choice, and it is apt in many ways. For one, you know that I’m a sucker for deep, gravelly voices, long hair, and acoustic guitars. For another, the very chorus embodies a sentiment I’ve been holding on to for the longest time. And last but not least, it’s an all-time great rock song. And… well, nothing else matters, right?
Well Nicky
I’ll be extremely brief today. So it’s been twenty years since you first set foot in the UK and since you’ve chosen a song which you feel sums up these years I’ll do the same. Here’s a recording of a song sung by one of your favorite artists which I feel might do the same thing.
I guess I’ve picked another winner for you today. 🙂 🙂 🙂
BTW – This might be a song which I’ve posted here before.
I forgot mention this song came out in 1968.
Well Nicky
After going back to the arms of Morpheus after doing my original post at 3:40 AM here on this side of The Pond. I went back an listen to the song again, and I found I could relate to the sentiment being expressed in the words; but I feel I can related more to Bassey’s song more.
Hiya Robin, sorry for my late response. My day’s been all over the place and I’ve been going through comments backwards for some reason. LOL! Forgive me. I’m glad you came back and had another listen to the song, and that you connected with it more second time round. I do like the Shirley Bassey song you have posted but I’ve got to go for Metallica this time all the way. LOL! Wishing you a happy Monday and see you soon! x
Awesome 🙂
’nuff said! XX
Love Metallica and was proud to learn that they used to play one of my band’s albums on their tour bus constantly. Also beat them to the ‘most played’ record on College Rock Radio in the USA a few times too. Rock ‘n roll indeed. Happy Monday. 🙂
Oh! Another insight into the life of Jane Rison. I love it! I’d so have loved to be on that tour bus and listen to YOUR BAND!! Ha! Congrats on beating them to most played record, that’s a huge achievement, I should think. ROCK ON and thank you for commenting!
Well we were not on their bus, thankfully as at that time we (our band) was on tour with another American band at the time. they were a handful in themselves. LOL xx
Great song! It’s in my list of favourite rock ballads. That whole album is awesome.
I’m being a rock fangirl at my blog today. The gig countdown has begun! 😉
