Not just for the ladies, then… Andy from The Bristol Nine magazine offers a male perspective on Sophie’s Turn… and he *did* really enjoy it!

The editor of local magazine, The Bristol Nine, was intrigued by the idea of a local author self-publishing her first book.  He manfully tackled all manner of technological challenges (such as, not owning a Kindle at the time) to read my masterpiece.  Here’s what he thinks:

  1. Wow Nicky what a fantastic review and from a man too!! You’re getting Sophie out there – well done. xx

  2. Thanks, Sue! I have to admit, I’m pretty chuffed… especially after this whole chick-lit debate thing (and will men actually read it?). Ok, Andy read it for the magazine and it’s not usually his thing but: he did genuinely, really enjoy it and asked for the sequel, too. I consider that endorsement! XX

  3. Nicky this is fabulous!!! I was just over at Brittany’s blog where you discussed your path to publishing and I am very inspired by you! I love that you got such a fantastic review from a ‘bloke’ that’s too cute! Thus proves that chick lit is for everyone and there really are mixed emotions on what people think!

I’m also a chick lit writer and know how difficult it can be getting your name out there!!! I’m not published yet but hope to be one day soon! I have started a hashtag on twitter #chicklitchat that meets every thursday (7pm central) that could help you get the word out on your novel!!! 😀

    • Hi Jen, thank you so much for your encouraging comment. I was pretty excited to get this review. Perhaps that’s the way forward…? I’ll be checking out your blog and thanks for the heads up regarding #chicklitchat. I would love to get word out on my novel there, except I think that’s about 1am in the morning for me (Central is 6 hours behind the UK, right?)… that might be a bit late (or early, depending on how you look at it). Is there any other way I can take part? Thanks for getting in touch… I’ll go and look you up on Twitter now! x
