It’s Music Monday!
Today I’m sharing a song that’s captivated me this past week. The lyrics are quite fascinating and seem to capture the essence of misunderstanding between woman and man. I totally love the juxtaposition of her and his viewpoint. Not to mention that the voices work beautifully together. Plus, of course, I’m a sucker for ballads that are heavy on the piano and feature strong, clear voices. Perfect song all round, as far as I’m concerned.
Hi Nicky
Up early again. At least on Mondays when I wake up like this, I have something I can do.
The moment I heard your song for this week read your prompt for us to reply to, I immediately thought of a duet in which they sing about the difference between the sexes. The song I thought of comes from “Funny Girl” [movie] starring Barbra Streisand & Omar, and the song is:
Hope you and your followers will enjoy listening to it.
With this done, I can go back to the arms of Morpheus for some additional snooze time.
Oooh I like it, Robin, thank you very much! 🙂 x Hope you got some more sleep!
I’ve never heard this song by Pink before, I’ve missed out on a chunk of her career. Duets can be really hit and miss affairs but I really loved Broken Strings with Nelly Furtado and James Morrison, the Stevie Wonder song ‘As’ covered by Mary J Blige & George Michael. But my favourite at the moment is probably this, Set The Fire To The Third Bar – it’s just urgent and powerful and I loved that it probably introduced Martha Wainwright to a more mainstream audience. I met her once and she’s also toured with Ed Harcourt. I know Gary Lightbody wrote this with her in mind and was stoked that she agreed to record it with Snow Patrol:
It’s just gorgeous and haunting. I love it.
Wow, gorgeous and haunting captures it! Thank you, Yasmin, it’s really good to see you here again!!! Thanks for visiting and commeting! X
Oo, good call! I’d say “Fate” is one of my favorite duets. 🙂
OOOOOH like like LIKE!
