Canonball ~ Music Monday Takeover by Jon Wells (aka My Other Half)

It’s Music Monday ~ Takeover!

MMtakeover

Welcome to Music Monday! It’s the school holidays and as y’all know by now, I’m taking a break. Over the past three weeks, I’ve encouraged you all to submit suggestions for rocking songs during the Music Monday Takeover season. Here’s the current list:

(1) How Far Jerusalem – Magnum
(2) Fantastic Place – Marillion
(3) Alone – Heart
(4) King of Spades – Dare
(5) Long Live Rock ‘n Roll – Rainbow
(6) Back in Black – AC/DC
(7) Run to the Hills – Iron Maiden
(9) RESPECT – Aretha Franklin
(9) Layla – Derek and the Dominion
(10) Canonball – Kim Deal
(11) Debaser – The Pixies
(12) American Dream – Power of Dreams
(13) Dustball – 10,000 Maniacs

…. and I had to deploy random.org to make a selection.
The answer is:

10

That makes it… my gorgeous Other Half’s choice!
I can tell you, he’s beside himself right now. We have somewhat different views on his tastes in music, and for obvious reasons, he’s thrilled to host the Takeover for you today. So I’m doubly keen to hear what you think, LOL!

Jon ~ I love you. XX

Music Monday Takeover continues for ONE MORE WEEK!

All unused suggestions have gone straight back in the hat, and I’d like to invite yet more of your ideas. Don’t be shy! I’ll let random.org help me out again with the selection so it’s like… the Music Monday Takeover Ideas Lottery. But only for One More Week!

Go on, come and play!

Also…for logistical reasons, I won’t be able to respond to any comments this week, so please don’t think I’m ignoring you or being rude! Comment away and I’ll catch up as soon as I can. 🙂

  1. Have a suggestion, try this link, a new Irish band writing original songs,

    • Thank you so much Maria, it’s lovely to hear from you and I’m always keen to check out new bands. This one’s definitely interesting, thanks for sharing! XX Rock on and come back soon. 🙂

  2. ‘Cannonball’ by The Breeders (Kim Deal’s other band to The Pixies) takes me right back to the 1990s. I remember dancing madly to this at indie club nights. Nice choice Mr Wells! x

    • I’ll pass on your message, Yasmin!! 🙂 Jon’s musical choices don’t always rock my world (he can lean a little bit toooooo far on the grungy side for my liking) but this one’s great. Am now envisaging you dancing madly at indie club nights… YAY! Thanks for commenting!

  3. Hi Nicky
You taking a break due to your children’s school holiday from your regular Music Monday routine has really been a challenge for me having to come up with a GREAT RESPONSE song for the past two weeks. Two weeks ago I responded by giving a selection which dealt with how all songs have been created, and last week I responded with one which dealt what we do with the songs we love to hear. Well this week my selection is more emphatic, it’s one which describes how you, Jon, and everyone else including myself feels about music. I believe all of us reading this will agree that:

Hope everyone will enjoy my selection for this week.

  4. Yay for getting Jon into the mix, Nicky! 🙂 I haven’t thought of this song in a long time…brings back memories. LOL I am very eclectic when it comes to music and listen to a wide variety of things. I like this pick a lot!

Here are a few more of my all time favs to go in the hat…

Me & Bobby McGee – Janis Joplin
Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison
I Would Walk 500 Miles – The Proclaimers
    The Pretender – Foo Fighters
    American Idiot – Green Day

    Happy Monday, Nicky!!

    • Oooh what a great list, Brandee! You are a veritable source of inspiration. I’ll be adding them to the list ~ let’s see if you get to be guest picker again! Random.org will decide, as always. Thanks for playing, this has been such fun!
