It’s Music Monday!
The launch festivities are over, the Trilogy is done, and it’s time for a fresh start, a new leaf, a blank page (ha! Literally, in my case!!). To get myself — and you! — in the mood for a great week, I’m bringing you another one of my absolute top favourite tunes today. In fact, I’ve been wanting to bring you this song for ages, but it’s only in recent months turned up in legal form on YouTube. It’s a classic anthem in my book; a feel-good, get-up-and-dance, sing-along-at-the-top-of-your-voice song! And that’s exactly what I’m doing right now!!
If I haven’t quite built a city on rock’n’roll yet, I’m certainly building a library, so the sentiment is entirely appropriate. Have fun and keep rocking!
Hi Nicky
Well what do you know I’m the first one here again.
You must be glad the craziness of the past several weeks have ended and you can return to much calmer days and the sense of normality has finally returned. The release of the final volume of your Rock Trilogy has occurred, the kids are back in school, and hopefully you’re taking a break from ALL the writing you’ve done in the past year to meet of goal of three published books in one year. [CONGRATS AGAIN on this note.]
This week your MUSIC MONDAY sings about “building a city.” I’ve lived in the New York City metropolitan area all my life and I definitely know how it can be living here, especially in the summer. With the playlist I’d created for the release of “Sophie’s Encore” still playing in my head, I can’t stop thinking of Sophie and Dan. The moment I saw the title of your musical selection, all these elements of the city, summer and Sophie/Dan caused another song for these two to start playing in my mind.
Sooner or later, perhaps I’ll be able to get rid of all of these songs playing repeatedly in my head.
I started out by waking up at 3:30 AM wanting to get something to drink and I ended up posting another one of my MUSIC MONDAY selection; and least now my work here is done for the day and I can return to bed with my OH and back into the arms of Morpheus until a more normal time for me to get up for the day.
I hope, as always, you and your readers will enjoy my selection for today.
Oooh I like it, Robin, *and* you’ve made your way into my OH’s heart as he’s been lobbying for this song for ages (I just couldn’t find it, LOL). So thank you, great choice. I hope you get some more sleep though, I’m worried about you! XXX
And I picked this song in the middle of “my sleep.” I’d love to hear his comment on this song now.
Hmmmm…. I wonder if I should seriously start thinking about charging for my service now, [LOL]
I’m glad you loved it and it appears as if I’ve made his day now as well. 🙂
I love this song! After seeing your post, I keep on singing it now :-). xx
We can sing together, Heidi!!! At the tops of our voices, too! X
I also love this song! Funnily enough, I had ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now’ by the same band stuck in my head all yesterday!
Also, hubby and I sometimes play the game of ‘change the lyrics to something silly’. So this song becomes ‘We Built This City on Sausage Rolls’. Daft I know, but we’re easily amused… ,-)
Have a rockin’ week! xx
Haha, Karen, I love this idea!! I’ll now and forevermore hear ‘sausage rolls’ in the song. We do the same thing at this house, with the kids. So the ‘Lala’ Song has been turned into the ‘Banana’ song as a way of getting the kids to eat more bananas (it works, too). Glad you liked it oh, and I love “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us” (and the film!!). Happy Monday!
I love this song. I remember first hearing it on a pirate station Laser 558 I think it was called and just thinking it was magic and how I couldn’t wait to hear it again. I was about 14 and had no idea who Starship were or that they’d been around around for donkey’s years in the incarnation of Jefferson Airplane. I was electrified by the song and kept going on about at school and was most chuffed when it charted and other people got to hear it too. Aces choice this Monday, lady x
Yasmin, our experiences of first hearing that song are virtually identical (except there were no pirate radio stations in Germany then. Well, at least not that I knew of!). So glad you loved today’s choice. ROCK ON!
It has been AGES since I heard this song. Thanks for the reminder of it.
It’s been quite awhile since I heard this song…but I’ve always liked it.
I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with your ‘blank page’, Nicky!
