It’s Music Monday!
We’re still in the hot zone and the magic is still working! So by popular request, here’s The Man. The opening riff has me jumping off my seat every single time without fail. It has to be one of the best opening riffs… ever, even if it’s only just rock.
I’m still taking suggestions to keep the nice, warm, sunny weather going so go on, come up with more Hot Songs!
Contenders from previous weeks are:
~Dancing in the Moonlight (Toploader)
~Sound and Vision (David Bowie)
~Hot Stuff (Donna Summer)
~Summer in the City (Lovin’ Spoonful)
~In the Summertime (Mungo Jerry)
~Rio (Duran Duran)
~Summetime (DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince)
~Summer in the City (Joe Cocker)
~Heat of the Moment (Asia)
~Hot Hot Hot (Arrow)
~Boys of Summer (Don Henley)
~Too Hot to Sleep (Survivor)
~Surfin USA (Beach Boys)
Hi Nicky, another for the ‘hot’ list – Billy Idol’s Hot in the City Tonight
Brilliant choice, Jo! *pssst* I’ve a present for you, check out last week’s Music Monday and happy listening! Thanks for dropping by, you’re a star!
Herman’s Hermits, Sunshine girl. I made a list of 1968/69 tracks about a year ago for a book I’ve been writing and spent my time singing and emailing links to my co-writer – it was such fun. Those were wonderful days and we often chat about them. Never to be repeated. 🙂
Oooh I’ll be checking it out, Jane, thanks!! Sounds magical, I think I know what you mean. Brilliant memories, just a tad bittersweeet because those times will never come back… But: other good things can happen, right? Rock on!
Nicky
Tax Day here on this side of “The Pond” file today or pay penalties/late charges. Anyway, so this week you want another “HOT” and you want the Summer of 1969, I’ve got a song recorded by Eddie Cochran in 1958, but since we’re talking about 1969, I’ll update it with the version done by The Who:
Another song selection by a child of “The 50s”
Thank you, Robin! I love how you always rise to the challenge. XX
THANKS Nicky,
You’ve got to remember, given I’m a child of the 50’s I’ve got a greater inventory of songs singing in my head. Have a GREAT WEEK!!!
I’m now waiting for the Kindle version of my book to be released by April 24th,
whooohoo congrats!!
How about ‘what a day for a daydream’ by livin spoonful or
‘zoom’ fat larrys band?
Not summer lyrics necessarily but always make me smile. Oh and any of the beach boys’ hits!! X
I’ll add them to the list, Debbie, thanks so much! That’s Livin’ Spoonful twice, then… amazing! X
That’s such a fab song! I love Bryan Adam!
I’ve just written a post about some of my all time favourite songs 🙂
x
Suzy Turner, YA Author
FAB!!! Must go and check it out! (Feel free to post a link too if you like). XX
(Adams, even!)
😉
LOL! 😉
I love all those old songs. They make me feel young again.
Music is a great one for turning back that clock, isn’t it? Thanks for visiting, Anneli! X
Whenever I hear The Temper Trap and ‘Sweet Disposition’ it always reminds me of last summer being in Hyde Park with my daughter and son, watching the Olympics on a big screen. The Temper Trap played there live along with Ocean Colour Scene and Feeder. Fantastic day.
It is one of the best opening riffs ever. Like Billy Joel’s “All About Soul” (which is currently running on a loop in this weird brain) just two chords make it instantly recognisable. Thanks for posting a long-time favourite, Nicky!
IT’s brilliant, isn’t it? Thanks for commenting, glad you enjoyed it! X
