It’s Music Monday!
Last week, I posted a cold song and invited you all to make suggestions for a hot song to break the freezing cold weather spell. Well, it worked! All right, it’s hardly tropical but the sun’s been out all week and there’s life erupting all over the garden. Roll on spring (and for goodness’ sake, don’t stop now!).
Thank you all for your most excellent suggestions. I thought I might take you up on your ideas and start posting the ‘hot’ songs over the coming week, always assuming that there are official versions available. Robin already posted her response in video format in her response of last week, so I took the remaining songs and picked the first one out of a hat. And this week’s choice is…
AWE-SOME!! Well, that takes me right back! We’ll be on to another hot song next week so meanwhile, keep the suggestions coming. Remember, our goal is to keep the sun shining and the mood sunny! Rock on!
Ah, this reminds me of some very hot summer evenings in my early teens… Thanks for that!
YAY! Glad you liked it! XX
Now there is someone with a voice, image and talent. Love him. Thanks.
Whoa, what an endorsement! Glad you could visit and love that you love it/him. X
Oh, and some more suggestions: ‘Dancing in the Moonlight’ (Toploader); David Bowie’s ‘Sound and Vision’ (it doesn’t have any summer or heat in the title, but all that ‘blue, blue, electric blue’ reminds me of the sea) and of course the classic ‘Summer of 69’ (Bryan Adams – even though I’m too young to remember that actual year!).
Brilliant, I’ll add them to the list!!!
Great suggestion Nicky! How about Donna Summer Hot Stuff if you haven’t already had that. There’s also a song from ’66 – which Jane will probably remember – from the Lovin’ Spoonful called Summer in the City which starts with the lyrics ‘Hot town, summer in the city. Have e-mailed it to you! xxx
Excellent, Jo, thanks so much! My OH had been going on about Summer in the City but couldn’t remember the artist. Not so hopeful as to whether there’ll be an official version on YouTube but I’ll be checking it out ~ you rock! Thanks for visiting. XXX
Hi Nicky
If this week you want another HOT SONG and you want to sing about THE CITY as well. Hmmm, having been born in New York City and living in the area all my life I know how hot it can get, especially in THE SUMMER. Given these elements there only one song which immediately begins playing in my mind, and that song is:
ENJOY 🙂
Ooh Robin, this brings to mind a warm summer’s evening in the park, watching the sun go down while sipping cocktails with some friends… Great choice, thank you!
I love that song! My hot song has to be DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince and their fab song, Summertime. This never fails to get me in the summer mood: http://youtu.be/Kr0tTbTbmVA
LOL, love it, Suzy, what a fun song! Thank you. XX 🙂
Keep playing the hot stuff! Bring on the warm weather.
We’ll do our best, Anneli! XX 🙂
Oh that’s a great one, Nicky! A hot song for me – is Rio from Duran Duran. Ah Simon… http://youtu.be/e3W6yf6c-FA
*sighs* Ah indeed… Thanks for visiting and suggesting an excellent song! XX
Mungo Jerry – In the Summertime 🙂
AWESOME! X
Yep Jo, love Summer in the City (Lovin’ Spoonful are one of my all time fav band bands) and of course the excellent songwriting of John Sebastian who also had a close liaison with The Mamas and Papas – in fact if you listen to the M&P song, Creeque Alley they mention John – and many other artists they liked and worked with – and that whole vibe back then was great between all these bands. Another band I liked then – linked to both M&P and The Lovin’ Spoonful was Spanky and Our Gang – do check them out too.
Oh yay, that was one of the songs I mentioned! And it takes me straight back to my late teens and early 20s. Never a bad thing when you’ve passed 40…. 😉
Indeed! XX
