Introducing: Reach for Your Light

blog-image-advert-reach-for-your-light-1
Reach For Your Light is a story steeped in music. Jez first falls for Emma when he see’s her dancing at the nightclub his dad owns and he’s smitten.

Quote: Jeremy White

“She’s stunning. Couldn’t concentrate on checking the stock books once I’d seen her at the club on Valentines weekend. Waves of silky smooth hair flowed down to her perfect little ass as she swayed from side to side. Amazing breasts bouncing in rhythm to the beat. Sparkling brown eyes that lit up when she looked at me. Hah, who am I trying to kid, she wasn’t looking at me at all. But she will. She will look at me when I go back to Topaz to meet her.”

Reach For Your Light - Ces Creatively

Emma works in club Topaz with her flatmate DJ Denzil Jayze and gets such a buzz from dancing.

Quote:

“I’m tingling all over, feels like I’m glowing with an intense energy that grows in the pit of my stomach then disperses through my body taking me higher and higher without a care. Exhilarating aromas whip through the air and claim me, seeping deep into my lungs as the smoke machine releases a heady golden haze. Sweet intoxicating vanilla tantalises my taste buds. An incredible laser show emanating from the base of the platform seems to sway and spike in complete time with every movement I make. Relishing the beautiful strobe lights almost dancing at my fingertips, I want to touch them as they flow, curve, crash and sweep back over the crowd like tumultuous pulsating green blue waves.”

THANK YOU!

🙂

Congratulations~It’s a book!

Publishing a book is like giving birth. It’s a long time coming, it involves a whole lot of blood, sweat, and tears, and the euphoria when you finally hold your baby in your hands is second to none.

I gave ‘real’ birth twice, to two wonderful little boys. But this is my FIFTH book baby, and the emotion, excitement and pride are every bit as intense as they were for the previous four book births and their real life flesh-and-blood-baby counterparts.

I write romance with rock stars, and here’s your latest fix:

Fallen for Rock: Out today!

Fallen for Rock: Out today!

 Fallen for Rock

‘A thrilling and delicious story of love and self-discovery woven around a broken romance that will make you turn page after page and cheer to the end.’

Love, life, loyalties. Nothing stays the same when Emily gets drawn into the world of rock.

Glossy and sophisticated professional high-flyer Emily has no time for nonsense such as the rock music her ex-boyfriend Nate adored so much. Yet when she unexpectedly comes into possession of VIP tickets—access all areas—for new rock band phenomenon, MonX, she can’t resist the temptation.

The fateful gig turns into more than one night, and Emily finds herself strangely drawn to this new and unfamiliar glittery world. However, only weeks later, MonX and her own universe fall apart with devastating consequences for all. When MonX lead singer Mike appeals for her help, she reluctantly embraces a new opportunity. But she soon discovers that while she may be a rock chick after all, a groupie she is not… Or is she?

Just exactly where do her loyalties lie? And what direction will her life take now that she’s left behind everything she treasured?

Warning! Fallen For Rock contains some explicit content and strong language that may not be suitable for readers under eighteen years of age.

See you on tour… and rock on! 🙂

Have you Fallen for Rock yet?

Last minute panic…

Good morning! Or not, as the case may be. I’m sitting here, poised and ready to upload Fallen for Rock to Amazon for release on Monday. The files are polished, the blurbs are ready, the pricing is worked out to the penny… all systems are go, and then this happens when I try to visit the Kindle Direct Publishing homepage:

KDP down

Now I’ve been an Amazon customer since it was first born way back when and a KDP author since 2011. I’ve never seen a screen like that. My first reaction is abject terror. What is going on?

Fallen For Rock

I have a book launch on Monday. I need to upload my book file urgently. KDP can take anything from 12 hours to 48 hours to upload a file to Amazon. With that, I have to walk a very fine line. I don’t want the book available too far ahead of launch day because that’ll spoil the fun. I definitely want it available on launch day because otherwise… that’ll spoil the fun too.

Thus I thought: Upload on Saturday morning for a Monday release. That ought to do it. Right?

Yes. Unless, of course, I can’t get the book uploaded!!

So I do some digging, and it turns out that the problem doesn’t lie with Amazon at all.

AmazonDown

I dig some more and discover that the problem is countrywide… (we’re talking UK here, of course).

BT Outage

To add insult to injury, the site for logging outage queries or complaints with BT is also down! In fact, the only sites that are working right at this moment are Google, Facebook and, thankfully, WordPress (otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this). Speaking of Facebook, I posted there and had a heart-warming response of sympathy and encouragement. I love you, folks! Here’s just a snapshot of the conversation that ensued…

FB response

So what’s next? Drink tea and stay calm, I think. (I’d post a photo, but I’m still in my jamas!)

There’s nothing much else I can do right now except sit tight and wait. At the time of publishing this post, all the affected sites, including KDP and Amazon, are still unavailable to me. Don’t get me wrong. I know technology goes wrong, and I suspect (hope!) that the good folks at BT are working like mad  to get this fixed. But why did it have to be this particular Saturday morning? I mean, come on, I only upload books twice a year!

Still, there’s no point in ranting. I’ll keep checking and trying, because that’s my job as your friendly author of romance with rock stars, LOL. In fact, this whole situation is not unlike the sound desk going down just minutes before a gig, so I do feel quite rock star. 🙂

And the reason I’m writing this? Well, for one, it gives you a lovely insight into the world of publishing, specifically the last minute hiccups that make life so very exciting. And for another, it’s just so that you’ll know why Fallen for Rock may not be available very first thing on Monday morning, 30 June, as previously promised. But I’ll do my utmost to make it happen.

Thanks for reading, and rock on. Wish me luck! x

12:46pm ~ POSTSCRIPT: My hopes were fulfilled and prayers granted!!! The outage ceased, the sites became available, and the book is uploaded pending review and going live… squeeeee!

Eighty percent orgasmic because of a deep voice and a bit of humour?

Hallelujah! It’s Music Monday… #BonJovi

Ladies, friends, and fellow rock lovers! It’s ages since I last posted a Music Monday video but today… today I just had to. I stumbled across this outstanding performance on Facebook, and I simply had to share. Sit back and be prepared to be wowed. THIS is why I write the books I write… golden-voiced bad boys with a magical stage presence. Rock On!

CentreStage proudly presents: Lisa Gillis and the release of the D-String Set #Rock #Romance

You know me. I love my rock stars. I love my romance. So much so that I spend my life dreaming up stories about rock stars and, you know, ordinary girls (like me, for example) and then writing books about it. Turns out I’m not alone with my particular affliction!

Not too long ago, I was minding my business on Twitter, as one does (actually, more like sticking my nose in everybody else’s business, but that’s what Twitter is for, right?) when I started chatting with Lisa. Lisa loves rock. Lisa loves romance. Lisa writes rock star romance. OMG! It was like meeting a sister that I didn’t know I had on the other side of the Atlantic!

So we started looking out for each other and chatting some more (it’s not as dodgy as it sounds, this is a strictly rock ‘n’ roll kind of relationship! Well, exactly!) and it turns out that Lisa is releasing an almighty rock romance box set this summer. In fact, it’s out now! So I’ve invited Lisa to tell you some more about it. Give it up for Lisa Gillis!

ABOUT THE D-STRING SET

Last summer (says Lisa) I debuted my new series Six Silver Strings.

The G-Strings Set starring Jack Storm, rock star, and single mom Marissa Dupleux won you over with a sinfully sexy yet moody musician, and a slightly star-struck heroine. Throw in a couple of dogs, a precocious toddler, sizzling chemistry between Jack and Marissa, and this cast is not easy to leave behind.

This summer I bring you the D-String Set and a whole different decade for your rock star reading addiction.

Matt Loren and Jules Breaux grew up on opposite coasts. However, the first steamy meeting between the two makes it more than obvious that six states wouldn’t have kept these star-crossed lovers apart forever.

Jules, daughter of two jet-setting parents, is a rebel, and a borderline alcoholic in the opening chapters. Matt, who turns up in Los Angeles to meet his estranged father, is responsible in every way. The two are drawn together by their love for music, and talent for composing it. In the creation of a band, they become fast friends-and just as quickly become more. They hide their steamy affair for the sake of the band. At least, that’s their excuse to each other and themselves. As the chapters move along, each have their own reasons for embracing a noncommittal relationship as tightly as they embrace one another when no one is looking.

This hot love affair, and the tension that comes with it, spans almost a decade during a time when saying “I’m sorry” wasn’t as easy as having a cell phone at the fingertips and time when keeping tabs on an ex wasn’t a social network page away.

The series is released as a box set, which means hours of uninterrupted summer reading ahead.

EXCERPT

“How many times can I apologize?”

With the chair in her hand, and magazine in other, she couldn’t fend him off when he retaliated by pulling her back against his wet length, and by grabbing her. He couldn’t seem to get enough of the little bit of weight gain covered at the moment by her bikini top.

“Can I help it if I like your apologies?”

Jules tried to glare at him, but she couldn’t. The memory he’d just alluded to was only a few weeks old. They had been alone in his bedroom, and she couldn’t even remember what she had been sorry for. It had been something silly… just an excuse to goof off… to fool around… to go down.

The blush heating her face had to be visible even in the hot sun. Thankfully, both Candi and Marc were somewhere on a wave far behind them as Matt was just coming in from an attempted ride on the board. Several people were scattered on the beach, but seemed to be paying no mind to them. It was a good thing. Because Matt must have remembered the aforementioned apology in detail as soon as he said it.

“You have only yourself to blame.” Jules told him when she felt his plight.

“That’s just not true. I blame you. Surfing in your little bikini. Sitting here in your little bikini…”

His hands had dropped to her waist. Maybe in self-defense to remind her she was a human shield. Water dripped from his hair as he bent his head, speaking his seductive words right next to her ear. Seducing her in front of at least a dozen people, ankle deep in high tide, at high noon.

…a small cry almost, sexy yet dreamy…

FFR_TeaserQuote2

Guilty! I broke the author’s first commandment.

Yes, I certainly did. The author’s first commandment being, “Always carry a notebook and a pen.”

So I found myself on a bus to Lincoln last week Wednesday. It was early, just after school drop-off, and the sun was shining brightly on the green and lush Lincolnshire countryside as the bus trundled its way towards the city centre. Already the spires of the Cathedral were in full view, and the scenery was growing more suburban by the minute.

I was sitting on the top deck, idly minding my own business. Actually, I wasn’t minding my own business at all. I don’t recall thinking about anything in particular. I had no worries on my mind, no urgent tasks, no remnants of a frazzled morning to analyse. I was simply… sitting there. When, quite suddenly and completely out of the blue, an idea struck. What if a famous rock star, for a whole host of complicated reasons, had to up-end his life and start over, deep, deep under cover? Dah-dah-daaaang!

My nose twitched. (My nose always twitches when I’m onto something, idea-wise). Oh-uh. While the bus rambled on, its passengers oblivious of the creative avalanche in my brain, ideas for the story clicked into place like fragments of a jigsaw. Places, motivations, crisis points, laugh-out-loud potential… everything swirled round and settled into place faster than I could say (not out loud, of course), “hang on, I haven’t got a pen.”

Because yes, my friends, I had committed the unthinkable crime. I had left the house with a rucksack devoid of writerly implements. No notebook, no notepad, not even a pen with which to write on my bus ticket (tiny though it was, it would have been a scrap of hope!). I had nothing. Nada. Nixiplonks, as my other half would say. There was a reason for this of course. The previous Monday, I had got utterly drenched in a phenomenal rain storm, and I had to empty out my rucksack completely, disposing of notepads, pens, and various other things I habitually carry.

The normal contents of my rucksack... including a notepad and several pens!

The normal contents of my rucksack… including a notepad and several pens!

My fingers itched, and I was feeling frantic.

The problem wasn’t so much that I was fearful of losing the idea. The idea was firmly embedded in my head in broad strokes. No, the problem was that whole scenes were coming to me thick and fast, as though I’d already written the book and was germinating edits. This is what usually happens when I conceive a novel, except it usually happens in the middle of the night when I’m at home with access to all manner of writing accoutrements, most notably my laptop.

Worse! Next thing I knew, the bus pulled into my stop, and I had to hurl myself down the stairs so that I wouldn’t be carried further than I wanted.

Breathless and discombobulated, I paused under the big plane tree on Broadgate (if indeed it is a plane tree. Who am I to know these things? Details, details!) and dug out my mobile phone. Needs must!

See? Ancient.

See? Ancient.

That probably sounds like an inspired course of action to you, but you have to understand that my mobile phone is old. As in, seriously old. It’s the exact opposite of a smartphone. It makes calls and sends and receives texts, and that’s it. It does not access the Internet, Facebook, Twitter, email or my blog. It does not have voice-recognition or a pseudo-work-environment. But it does have a ‘to do’ list function.

For the next twenty minutes, I stumbled all over Lincoln, crossing various roads and only barely just dodging cars, bikers, and delivery trucks, while clumsily tapping the bare bones of my next novel into this ancient old phone one painstaking letter at a time. I would bet you that I was the epitome of the irresponsible phone user, and that many an irate driver shook their fist at me. But hey, I didn’t have a choice. I was a woman possessed.

I broke the author’s first commandment, and I had a sore thumb for days, but I rescued the plot, the plan, the grand idea. And that, people, means that you can look forward to yet another book in my catalogue. After Fallen for Rock (out 30 June) and my Christmas novella (Fairy Tale in New York, out in October or November) and my current work-in-progress (bringing you a glamorous rock star couple and their rather disastrous honeymoon with epic consequences, due for release in the spring of 2015), I have the next story in the hopper. And so the fun goes on!

But I counsel thee this. Never, ever, ever leave your house without a notepad and a pen. I shall learn my lesson, too!

Your turn! Have you ever been assailed by an idea, a concept, a thought, that you had to eternalise without any means of doing so? What did you do?
