Open Your Heart

It’s Music Monday!

NewMusicMondayLogoAnd it’s launch week for Sophie’s Run, whoohooo! In keeping with my rock theme during the countdown to Sophie’s Run, I’m bringing you another one of my favourites. However, today I’m keeping it a little mellow ~ giving myself, and you, a little breather before the madness of Wednesday and Thursday. This is one of my favourite ballads and it is quite fitting for Dan and Sophie’s circumstances at the end of Sophie’s Turn.

Have a sit back, enjoy and… get ready for the rest of the week!

Now I’ve seen Europe many times… but actually meeting the band is still on my bucket list!

Who would you like meet backstage?

Reason to Live

It’s Music Monday!

NewMusicMondayLogo

Hello, you! I’m still counting down the Mondays until the release of Sophie’s Run with a series of classic rock songs.

Today’s song… well, let’s just say that watching the video reminds me of what I imagined Tuscq to be like at the beginning of their fictional career, back in the 1980s. Awesome!

And the song is appropriate in more ways than one. LOVE the title, love the chorus, love the emotion. And the riffs. So I give you: KISS!

What’s your reason?

Rock of Ages

Happy Monday! Hope you’re coping with the snow or whatever weather is confronting you today. Keep it hot and snug with another highly appropriate rocking selection in the run up to the lauch of Sophie’s Run.

Oh yes… Still rocking… and not about to stop! Long live rock’n’roll.

What’s your favourite rocking-forever track?

Enter Sandman

It’s Music Monday!

Last week, I promised you a series of classic rock song posts to mark the countdown to the launch of Sophie’s Run on 7 Feb. You know I keep my promises! Today, I have a rocking choice for you. Talk about one of the greatest opening riffs of all times! (Well, it’s in my top 10 at least).

Dum-dumm-dum-dum-duuuummmm-dum-dumm-dum-dum-duuuuuuum…. *Plays air guitar* Oh yes, I can see Darren and Dan play something like this (of their own, of course!) live on stage with Tuscq. Rock on, and enjoy.

What’s your favourite rock song opening? Or you could share your fave book opening line ~ I’m intrigued!

I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

It’s Music Monday!!
It’s a Festive Music Monday!!

NewMusicMondayLogo

What can I say? Yesterday was the third Sunday of Advent. It’s only one week to go to Christmas. The decorations are up (excepting the tree), the food is ordered, the presents are wrapped. We’ve seen the school nativity, the local Christmas panto (Peter Pan, and very good it was too!), done the Lincoln Santa Fun Run and attended the church Carol-by-Candlelight Service. Christmas is very definitely a-coming… and I don’t want this fun season to end. Need I say more?

Tell me ~ what festive fun have you been up to this past week? Are you ready?

I look forward, as always, to your tuneful responses. Just please respect the artist’s copyright and choose a legal upload~ thank you! 🙂 X

Christmas Time ~ Don’t Let The Bells End

It’s Music Monday!

NewMusicMondayLogo

And I promised you last week that the Christmas tunes would start right here, right now. So today, it’s time to bring light into the season from The Darkness. Oh yes, indeed! I happened to see The Darkness in Cardiff a few years ago and they absolutely rocked. So what better song to express my feeling about the festive season than this one.

In addition, there’s a whole host of exciting authors sharing their festive top tunes over at loveahappyending.com today ~ don’t miss out on the fun. I happen to be the editor of that particular feature and I can tell you, it rocks!

Be sure to come back next week for another of my festive faves! Have a rockin’ time as you get ready for Crimbo. XX 🙂

Oh and… feel free to share the love! What’s your favourite Xmas tune?

Halt mich (Hold me)

It’s Music Monday!

NewMusicMondayLogo

Happy December, folks ~ it’s nearly Christmas! I was going to post a festive tune, seeing as that this is my favourite time of year. However, for some reason this song popped back into my head. I don’t know why, I was just walking along the road, having dropped the boys at school, and there it was. It’s a very old song by an outstanding singer (and actor) very famous in Germany but you might not have heard about him. I really encourage you to listen and challenge you not to get goosebumps at the harmonies and the interplay between piano, vocals and bass.

I don’t normally post lyrics anymore but these are special, so find below a stab at a translation intended to convey how lyrical and beautiful this song really is. (If it fails to capture you wholly and completely, it’s my translation that’s at fault, not the song!)

PS ~ don’t be put off by the boxing. No idea what that’s got to do with anything. It’s not a boxing song!

PPS ~ tune back in next week for proper Christmas spirit and festive tunes!

I take my dreams at face value

Revel in fantasies

I caught myself in you, don’t quite know what’s happening to me

I warm myself at your voice and rest in your arms

Hold me just for a little while until I can fall asleep

I feel safe with you, I bet my heart on you

Want to enjoy every moment for now and ever more

You’re a good person to lean on,  you bring happiness to the brim

I surrender to you and you comfort me

I’m beside myself with joy, I want to drown in it with you

Headless, free of worry and completely weightless I want to lose myself in you

Cover me in tenderness

Take me quick, the night is short

Peaceful, crazy with love, overwhelmed by you

So glad that you exist

Come and talk to me, chatter away

I wanted to get sated listening to you, want to be with you forever

Fill me up with life, let me be in your arm

Hold me just for a little while until I can fall asleep

Hold me so that I can fall asleep
