LOST TO YOU!

LostToYou.indd

People come into our lives. Some stay, and many go. Some build us up, while most tear us down. They become our friends, our enemies, our lovers, our tormentors.

Christian Davison came into mine, and I knew I’d never be the same.

To Elizabeth Ayers, New York City had always been a dream. She’s worked her entire young life to make it here.

Groomed to one day take over his father’s law firm, attending Columbia University was Christian Davison’s only option.

Neither wanted anything more until they sat across from each other at a café table after being paired as study partners.

Christian wants her, but Elizabeth knows better than to give into their intense attraction. Yet there is little she can do to stay away.

Lost to You, the prequel to the bestselling romance, Take This Regret. A New Adult novella, recommended for readers 17+. It’s unnecessary to have read Take This Regret to enjoy Lost to You.

Check out the fabulous excerpt:

“So how’s your math class going?” Christian wiped a napkin over his mouth, sat back in his chair with a satisfied sigh as he pushed his plate away. Completely casual, he appeared to be unaware of the chaos he created in me.

“Okay, thanks to you.”

A smirk pulled at his mouth. “What would you do without me, Elizabeth?”

“Oh, I don’t know, find another cute boy to help me with math,” I said, anticipating his reaction if I teased him a little.

For a flash, his eyes narrowed, then a dangerous grin spread across his face. “So I’m just dispensable, huh? Easily replaced?” He hunched and lowered, pressed his chest into the table to meet me at eye level, this slow playfulness coming across him. “How about I let you fail next time?”

“Well how about I feed you the wrong answers when we study for our next government test?” I countered.

He faked a disbelieving laugh, a gentle ribbing that twisted its way straight to my heart. He was so cute like this, like a harmless boy and not the man who made me fearful, not the one who urged me to hold onto my affections, careful not to let them go.

“You’re going to feed me the wrong answers, huh? You?” he challenged.

The entire meal I’d felt his leg stretched under the table, reaching, giving in to  casual brushes, then receding as if they hadn’t happened.

Now Christian abruptly extended his leg, wove it between my legs, direct and bold. My breath caught. It was the closest we’d ever come to an embrace.

I averted my gaze, but couldn’t for long because I could feel him staring at me.

His voice dropped. “You, sweet Elizabeth, the most innocent girl I know, is going to feed me the wrong answers? I bet you’ve never even told a lie.”

Heat flooded my face.

He was taunting me, prodding. Is that what he really thought of me? Innocent? But honestly, I guess I was. Well maybe not innocent. . .just inexperienced. I had no idea how to play Christian’s games, no idea of what the girls he surrounded himself with were like, although I could only imagine. It had to be my greatest disadvantage. Vulnerability oozed from my consciousness, and I shifted in discomfort.

Christian could devour me whole.

His expression shifted as he edged even closer, his voice a whisper, “Just how innocent are you, Elizabeth?”

Well, then, I’m hooked. Just how innocent are you, Elizabeth! I have read Take This Regret and I can’t wait to find out how Elizabeth and Christian started their journey. Rock on, A.L.

About A.L. Jackson

ALJacksonSmallPhoto

A.L. Jackson first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student.  She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.

Years later, she shared a short story she had been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three beautiful children. Her favorite pastime is spending time with the ones she loves.

Doubly Inspiring and quite Lovely! #Awards

It’s been a long time since I last had an opportunity to accept blog awards, and I want to thank absolutely everyone who nominated me over the past few months and who graciously let me pass the opportunity at the time. You know you rock!

However! I have a window of opportunity here and I am delighted to accept not one but three awards today. *Happy Dance*

I was recently nominated for these awards:

Very-Inspiring-Blogger-Award

Very Inspiring Blogger by Melanie Robertson-King
Very Inspiring Blogger by Suzie Tullett

lovely blog
One Lovely Blog by Vikki Thompson at The View Outside

To accept this awards I must
1) Link back to the wonderful person who nominated me (done)
2) offer seven random facts about me and
3) pass the award on to seven fabulous bloggers.
Here goes!

Seven Random Facts About Me

1) I don’t like peas. I think they’re revolting. I eat them all right (got to set the kids a good example, right?) but I think they’re awful. I’d rather have sprouts, thank you.

2) As far as mobile phone technology goes, I’m in the dark ages. I have an old, non-Internet enabled, ‘call and text’ only standard-issue mobile phone. No iPad, Smartphone, android or anything like that for me. Know what? I’m perfectly happy.

3) I love making pizza from scratch.

4) Before I came to England, I wanted to go to Art School. I’m a bit of a failed artist at heart. But that’s ok, I’m a better writer than I ever was a painter!

5) My stereo sound system is twenty years old and I treasure it highly. Rock on, analogue amplifier and big enormous speakers, you can’t be beaten.

6) I want to be snowed in, utterly and completely, for two days, just once in my life. It’s on my bucket list. I might have to go to Iceland, Canada or Alaska for this exciting adventure, it seems. (That’s also on my bucket list).

7) I have my eye on a lighthouse that I want to buy when I retire. (If, that is, I ever get to retire, the way pensions are going at this time. But that’s a different matter, LOL).

Sharing the Joy!

I’d like to pass these awards on to the following seven outstanding friends and bloggers. Pick one, or take both!

Reason to Live

It’s Music Monday!

NewMusicMondayLogo

Hello, you! I’m still counting down the Mondays until the release of Sophie’s Run with a series of classic rock songs.

Today’s song… well, let’s just say that watching the video reminds me of what I imagined Tuscq to be like at the beginning of their fictional career, back in the 1980s. Awesome!

And the song is appropriate in more ways than one. LOVE the title, love the chorus, love the emotion. And the riffs. So I give you: KISS!

What’s your reason?

The Fallen Stars by @stephaniekeyes ~ COVER REVEAL!

.and here’s the blurb for The Fallen Stars!

When all is lost, he will have to make the ultimate decision.

Kellen St. James was just your average seventeen-year-old prodigy, until he eighty-sixed the Lord of Faerie and proposed to a Celtic goddess. Now everything in Kellen’s life gets turned upside-down when Calienta, Kellen, and friend, Gabriel Stewart, find themselves on the run from a seriously irritated group of faeries. The worst part? They have zero idea why.

Suddenly, Kellen finds himself stuck in the middle of another prophecy that questions everything about him including where his loyalties lie. Plus, Calienta’s more than a bit different; she’s making choices that he doesn’t understand. And Gabe, his best friend? He’s started doing all sorts of freaky things that make Kellen question who he really is.

Kellen and Calienta will fight to stay together and keep the hidden part of the prophecy from becoming reality.

When the ultimate power is within reach, which side will he choose?

#RadioAddict strikes again: Live on Air with Nicola Gilroy at BBC Radio Lincolnshire

This radio thing is becoming a habit and an addiction. I can’t help it!

O

Yesterday, the fabulous Nicola Gilroy invited me onto the afternoon show at BBC Radio Lincolnshire. Take no notice of my deer-caught-in-the-headline look, I have a most amazing time. Nicola asked me about Sophie’s Turn (and Sophie’s Run), my inspiration for writing, the writing (and planning) process as well as my journey to publication. Oh, and we talked about rock music. Obviously. She even played Whitesnake for me, right there, on the show. Needless to say, I played the air guitar. Luckily for Nicola, I didn’t sing along. (Though I was tempted!)

Here’s a link to the iPlayer of this show. It will be functional until end of day, Monday, 28 January. You can find ‘my’ segment from 10 minutes in up to 29 minutes!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0132zz5

Rock on, and thanks for listening. 🙂

PS. While I was sitting in the waiting area at BBC Radio Lincoln, I couldn’t help but reflect on the increasing number of times I’ve been getting to enjoy myself on the radio of late, and how that delicious cocktail of pre-interview nerves always gives me a buzz that lasts through the rest of the day. I might just blog about this in more detail in the coming week or so. What do you reckon?

Rock of Ages

It’s Music Monday!

NewMusicMondayLogo

Happy Monday! Hope you’re coping with the snow or whatever weather is confronting you today. Keep it hot and snug with another highly appropriate rocking selection in the run up to the lauch of Sophie’s Run.

Oh yes… Still rocking… and not about to stop! Long live rock’n’roll.

What’s your favourite rocking-forever track?

Sophie’s Run is In The Building!

It only seems like yesterday that I posted right here when Sophie’s Turn turned up in paperback format in my house. It is, in fact, only barely five months. Five months! And I am the proud author-owner of my very own second book.

Sophie’s Run. It’s here!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This one wasn’t eight years in the making. I wrote it from October 2011 until February 2012, taking about fourteen weeks to complete it.

O

I was going to publish in the summer of 2012. That was before I signed with my fabulous publisher, Sapphire Star Publishing, of course.
So Sophie’s Run got a little waiting period but here it is…

O

Oh my God.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Of course, this time, I knew what was coming. I knew I would be overwhelmed with joy and… glee. Yes, pure and unadultered joy at holding another book of mine in my very hands. I’m telling you, the feeling is just as great as first time round! And it’s not just me who’s insanely proud, it turns out…

O

Oh, this gives me an idea. Don’t the two books look good together?

O

Oh, let’s try another shot….

O

Oooh yeah, baby!
I’m sorry. I’m sorry! I couldn’t help playing at happy bookshelves with them. Just wait until book 3 joins them. (And book 4… and book 5…)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Work it, baby, work it…

O

Awesome. Not long to go now!
Launch day is 7 February, and I’ll be having the most rocking launch yet. Literally, really rocking!
Watch this space for more news and thank you for joining me.

O

Rock on!

Pssst! *whispers* In case you haven’t seen them: the advance reviews for Sophie’s Run are rolling in on Goodreads. Go take a look! 🙂

Frozen Kingdom

Hello, world! It’s a beautiful, if very cold day here in Lincolshire. When I took the kids to school this morning, the outside thermometer read -6 degrees Celsius.

It’s a clear, sunny day on the heels of a very cold, foggy day yesterday and the world is transformed. I couldn’t help taking pictures of the frozen kingdom that we saw on the way to school. I hope you appreciate that my fingers nearly turned into icicles by the time I was done becuase it’s imposible to manipulate the camera with gloved hands! Sit back, and enjoy… And let me know which one your favourite shot is!

It’s Music Monday!

Last week, I promised you a series of classic rock song posts to mark the countdown to the launch of Sophie’s Run on 7 Feb. You know I keep my promises! Today, I have a rocking choice for you. Talk about one of the greatest opening riffs of all times! (Well, it’s in my top 10 at least).

Dum-dumm-dum-dum-duuuummmm-dum-dumm-dum-dum-duuuuuuum…. *Plays air guitar* Oh yes, I can see Darren and Dan play something like this (of their own, of course!) live on stage with Tuscq. Rock on, and enjoy.

What’s your favourite rock song opening? Or you could share your fave book opening line ~ I’m intrigued!
