Happy Music Monday!

So. How’ve you been? Last week got away from me from the word go, and after the big Siren FM ‘Spirits of Christmas’ On Air Festive Fun Extravaganza, I went completely MIA.  Very bad form of me, but there was a reason! The reason being that a cold gripped me and wouldn’t let me go! And at the weekend, it was time for the Festival of Romance ~ so now it’s Monday again and I’m asking myself, where did the last seven days go?

Well. This is the rock star lifestyle for sure, right? So here’s a fitting song. I know I shared Bon Jovi last week already when sleep seemed the most elusive resource of all… but hey, if this band will write the most appropriate songs for the soundtrack of my life, I can’t help it, right? Here goes. STAY TUNED (i.e. read on) for your Radio Party Podcast Linkies and some photos from the weekend’s Romance Fest!

WINNERS!

The winners of the Spirits of Christmas On Air Festive Fun Extravaganza Party were announced live on the show. You can also hear the announcements in the podcast, but let’s give the winners a big cheer here too.

Rachel Miles and Lheanne Spicer ~ One signed paperback copy of Spirits of Christmas each!

Dawn Crooks ~ One “Now That’s What I Call Christmas” CD

Congratulations!!!!!

Thank you to everyone who entered. I was stunned, as always, by the response to this giveaway, especially given the very short countdown time of only three days. You all ROCK and I feel the lurve!

It was rockin’ awesome! And is if that wasn’t enough fun for one week, after two days of languishing on the sofa with a dreadful cold, I made my way to Bedford for….

Festival of Romance!

Saturday morning saw me arriving (very nearly) bright-eyed and thoroughly excited in Bedford for immediate setting up of table at the Romance Fair. This year, we were hosted in the Harpur Suite, and the punters started arriving as soon as the doors opened at 10 a.m. The fair passed faster than you could say “Romance Fest 2013” with a steady stream of visitors passing by my stall. Evidently I did a reading! I chose a little passage from “Spirits of Christmas” that was suitable for the “Royal Baby Shower” theme. And evidently, I opened my reading with a short burst of song. LOL!

The gala/ball was splendiferous! My congratulations go out once again to all the award winners, you totally rocked it! I’m still reeling from all the fun and information packed into the industry event on Sunday. And it was amazing meeting all manner of readers and friends, many of whom I knew from Facebook or Twitter but hadn’t hitherto met face-to-face: JB Johnston, Carol Wright, Heidi Bartlett, Kiru Taye, Talli Roland, Manda Ward, Glynis, Sheryl Browne, Les Moriarty, Pete Cook, Linn Halton, Mandy Baggot, Fi Harper, Kate Allen, Cat, Jane Lovering, Terri Nixon, Lyn, Caroline… the list goes on and on!

If you missed it this year, I’d thoroughly recommend you check out this fabulous event next year and: I’ll see you there!

Ready for Doors Open!

How was your week?

I Came, I Saw, I Conquered… and I Sang: Rocking the Festival of Romance

What can I say? It was AWESOME. I have a million photos of the amazing Festival of Romance last weekend. Not all of them came out too well owing to some very pink lighting… but here are the highlights. Oh, and in case you haven’t heard/seen: I sang. Yup, my friends, I sang a bit of a favourite rock song to introduce my reading of Sophie’s Turn. And to prove it… there’s videographic evidence!

Off to Rock the Festival of Romance 2012 @romancefest

So! The day is finally here!

I’m off to Bedford (UK) to rock the Festival of Romance.

I’ll be going to Friday night’s gala, and I’ll be there all day Saturday to chat, meet people, and sign books.

I’m also taking part in the Readathon at 2pm AND I’m co-hosting the Rock Star Party at 5:30pm. Doesn’t that sound awesome?

I’ve retrieved not one, but two wheelie suitcases to contain all my stuff… clothes… books… and more. Will it all fit?

Here’s a selection of my glammest outfits.

Can’t wait to get dressed up! No pyjamas and toast crumbs for me this weekend. The outfits will go in the pink carry-on case. Apart from The Dress, which I’ll carry separately with one of the many additional arms I will magically grow overnight.

(Question: who else do you know that I talk about a lot who uses a pink carry-on suitcase at all times…???)

And here are all my authorly accoutrements. They clearly won’t all fit in the blue wheelie. More arms needed.

Rock on!

I’ll post a photographic diary of my version of events right here on this blog next week. After all, many of my loveahappyending.com friends will be there, plus The Romaniacs, plus many more fantastic authors and lots and lots of wonderful readers. It’ll be AWESOME!

Hope to see you there,
if you can make it.

🙂

Festival of Romance New Talent Award 2012

Exciting news for aspiring romance writers!!
Have you heard about the Festival of Romance New Talent Award?

New Talent Award aims to uncover romantic fiction authors of the future

The Festival of Romance is delighted to announce that the New Talent Award will run again this year. The industry judges are Georgina Hawtrey-Woore, senior editor at Cornerstones, Random House, and Diane Banks, literary agent at the Diane Banks Associates Literary Agency.

The Festival of Romance New Talent Award aims to cast a spotlight on the authors of tomorrow and is open to all writers who have not yet had a book commercially published. Writers may submit the opening chapter (up to 3,500 words) of a romantic novel of any type by 30th September 2012. The winner and runners-up will be announced and presented with trophies at the gala Festival of Romance Awards on Friday 16th November 2012. There is a small entry fee to cover the award administration. Entrants may also gain a critique of their entry written by a professional novelist.

“As part of the Festival of Romance we want to help new writers with talent get their break into the commercial fiction world,” says Kate Allan, chief romantic at the Festival of Romance. “At the Festival of Romance in November we are running writing workshops, an industry conference and chance to meet publishers face to face as well as the New Talent Award. I’m delighted that Georgina Hawtrey-Woore and Diane Banks have agreed to judge this year’s entries.”

Winner of the 2011 New Talent Award Henriette Gyland subsequently garnered a book deal from publishers Choc Lit. Her debut novel Up Close will be published in December 2012.

For more details about how to enter the New Talent Award, come and visit the Festival of Romance website.

What are you waiting for? Go for it… and I’ll see you at the Festival in Bedford on 16th to 18th November! Rock On… 😉
