Music Monday meets CentreStage: Richard Holmes brings Inspiration For Breakfast and The Clash

Music Monday meets CentreStage
as I hand over my blog to the one-and-only Richard F. Holmes today.

Be prepared for music and astral inspiration!

Take it away, Richard!

First of all, Nicky, I’d like to honour Music Monday on your blog. Here’s a tune by The Clash that inspires me:

Moreover, this version of Louie Louie by The Clash represents a great bit of three-minute escapism for me. Sadly, you’ve got to click through to listen to this song but it is totally worth it.

Awesome!! But now, Richard, on to your REAL purpose for being here… 🙂

Thank  you Nicky.  I must say it’s a pleasure to be here.

Why thank you, Richard… so can you tell us about your latest book?

Yes, it’s called Inspiration For Breakfast and it’s a compilation of wisdom quotes that I felt compelled to put into book form, and I’m really grateful to you for showcasing it today on my official launch day.

As you may well know I really love inspirational quotes; I find that they can really fire you up and get you going and I just felt it was something I needed to do.  I had already published one new book this year and republished my first five pieces of work as two revamped paperbacks, but I found myself wanting to do something else before the year’s end, and Inspiration For Breakfast is the result of that.  I got the idea and just sat on it for weeks, but once I decided to go ahead with it, it was finished very quickly.

Was there any particular source you gathered all these quotes from?

A few really; I just love Eastern Philosophy, so the first section is dedicated to Easter Philosophy quotes.  Then there is a section on Marcus Aurelius quotes; Marcus was one of only five Roman Emperors to have been considered “good”.  There is also a section on Greek Philosophy quotes and a section on miscellaneous quotes from all kinds of people as diverse as Audrey Hepburn and Winston Churchill.

Who would you say your book was for specifically, Richard?

Literally anyone and everyone Nicky; young and old, male and female; anyone at all who is looking for a little bit of inspiration.

That sounds great, and I understand that Inspiration For Breakfast is not the only project you have been busy with?

Yes that’s correct,  firstly I decided that my Kindle version of Angelic Wisdom Trilogy needed sprucing up a little, so I engaged the services of our very own Stephanie Keyes’ company, Sycamore Road Design, to create a new cover for me, and here it is…

It’s beautiful, Richard! Well done, Steph!

To celebrate the new cover reveal I am hosting a free giveaway on Amazon Kindle of Angelic Wisdom Trilogy, and anyone interested in downloading a copy can find do so from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com (available on 26 November and 27 November 2012).

As well as that I have just released my latest CD, Mantra For The Soul.  This is a project that I am particularly excited about, and I also have someone working on a new backing track for one of my older meditation CDs that is already in production, and if things go to plan the finished article will seem like a completely new project only much better.  Finally, I have an idea for another CD in the new year that should turn out to be the best of the bunch.  So, all in all, exciting times!

My goodness, what a lot of achievements: congrats! Thanks for joining me today, Richard, and sharing your exciting news with us.  But before you go, how about one of your favourite quotes from the book?

It would be a pleasure, Nicky, and thanks again for having me as a guest on your blog!

“Love is the strongest force the world possesses and yet it is the humblest imaginable” – Mahatma Gandhi

About Richard Holmes… by Richard Holmes!

I am a medium and clairvoyant and also the author of 8 spiritual books and  producer of 6 meditation CD’s that have helped to change the lives of many people from all walks of life.  Only 12 years ago I was still  struggling with an alcohol problem that was threatening to take my life in a very negative direction from which there would have been no return.  These days I use the same principles that enabled me to turn my life around and apply them to my client’s individual needs.  I help people replace the old  negative mindsets, that keep them rooted in the past, with new positive  thoughts and attitudes that enable them to get what they dream about having and being in their lives.

By drawing on my own life  experience I help people to grow and realise their true worth and  potential; helping them to express themselves in ways that make them  feel happy and fulfilled.  People contact me when they are at a crossroads in their lives or when they  feel they are stuck in a particular negative situation.  It may also be  because they are experiencing grief due to the loss of a loved one or they may simply be in search of some guidance of a spiritual nature.

Whatever the reason, I always aim to make people feel at ease so that  they can enjoy the experience. I also help people to realise the gifts of clairvoyance, mediumship and  healing that are present within themselves.  This can be on a one-to-one or group basis and is achieved through guided meditation and other methods of inner  work.

Chasing Cars

It’s Music Monday!

And I’m bringing you another one of my favourite songs today. Today’s selection made the feature simply because I was in the mood for stunningly haunting and beautifully lyrical. It gives me goosebumps every single time, without fail. There’s emotion, there’s coming-of-age, there’s an amazing build up…  Love it. Enjoy!

Have you got a fail-safe goosebump song?

As always, I look forward to everyone’s musical response. This has become the favourite part of Monday for me. Just please keep it legal ~ you know what I mean. We all want this blog to be here next week!

What I Call Romance

It’s Music Monday!

Happy Monday, my friends! Today is a very special edition of Music Monday indeed. You see, I had a post all planned, written, and scheduled. All done and dusted. And then I went out with my husband on Saturday night. We had been invited by our new neighbours to come along and see a fabulous singer-songwriter, or so they said. We quite fancied a night out, so we went along with no particular expectation of anything, other than to be out and meet new friends.

Well, we were blown away by the singer-songwriter in question. His name is Paul Bell and he is simply fabulous. He played an acoustic set of beautifully lyrical songs with fabulous tunes, strong vocals and a wicked sense of humour. I chatted with Paul briefly afterwards…

…and yes, I begged an autograph! It’s a long time since I’ve done that, I can tell you. Hubby was well amused. Anyway, I chatted with Paul and gained his permission to post one of the songs that captivated me most for you right here, right now, today. I really encourage you to listen to it; every word has meaning, glorious, funny, totally true meaning, and it is What I Call Romance.

Find out more about Paul on his website! And now I’m keen to hear: what is your favourite line in this song? And do you have any local independent artists in your area who you think deserve to rise to the very top of the charts?

November Rain

It’s Music Monday!

And it’s the first Monday in November. So there really is only one song I can post today. Moreover, it kind of suits my mood and the mood of my WIP. So here it is. Sit back and chill…

There. Now you’re ready for the rest of the day! 🙂 Rock on. And give somebody a hug today!

Bring Me To Life

It’s Music Monday!

…and the theme is Halloween. (Of course)

So the obvious choice would have been Thriller but that would have been a bit boring. I was intrigued to find that Tubular Bells features on the Top 10 of Halloween party songs and would have gladly posted it except I couldn’t find a legal version.

But inspiration struck! By free association and wracking my brain, I can usually find just the right song, and today’s choice is perfect, in my humble opinion. I saw this band live when they were touring the UK on the crest of the success of this very same song, and they were awesome, so that makes it a double pleasure to post the clip.

Hard, ethereal, haunting, lyrical, just like the band name. Enjoy!

Evanescence; derivative of evanesce; pass out of sight, memory or existence. Well, there you go, that’s spooky in and as of itself!

What’s your favourite Halloween song? And… do you go trick-or-treating? Do you apple-bob? Go on, you can tell us here… 🙂

PS ~ Just for the record, I wrote this post BEFORE last Saturday’s Xfactor show. #justsaying

Forever Young

It’s Music Monday… and I’m in a philosphical mood!

Why? Oh, many reasons. Having kids gets me thinking, from time to time. When my brain works, that is ~ LOL! You know, the meaning of life and all that. Plus sometimes, just sometimes, I find myself wishing I could be a kid again. (Not a teenager mind, ugh, no thank you).

Writing the third part in my trilogy is making me unexpectedly wistful. As is in the nature of a trilogy, my characters have grown and evolved in every way, including in age. They in turn are feeling nostalgic and philosophical about years past and missed opportunities.

Lastly, Highlander was on the telly again (when is it ever not on the telly these days?) and while I adore the Queen soundtrack, there is another song that springs to mind when I hear the two words, Forever Young.

I wonder how many of you might have heard this song, know of this band. They were a huge hit in Germany way back when and I seem to recall this song being in the charts… forever. So there it is. I hope you enjoy!

What’s your wistful and philosophical song, perhaps with served with a tinge of bittersweet nostalgia?

Sex on fire

It’s Music Monday!

It’s a very special Monday, as far as I am concerned. While you are reading and listening to this post, I will almost certainly have disconnected the internet and muted the phone. For today I return to work ‘proper.’ It is my first day of writing the last part of the Rock Star Romance Trilogy.

Yes, I am officially writing in earnest, and at full speed, my third book, Sophie’s Encore, so that it will be in your hands on 7 September 2013.

As befits the final part of a trilogy, things will seriously hot up here. So what better song to get me (and you) in the mood? “Consumed with what’s to transpire…” Well, that totally captures it for me today!

Kick back and enjoy… and I’ll see you later, much later…

Rock on!

Do you have a special song for kicking off a new project, whether a book or any other undertaking? Something to get you in the right frame of mind? I’d love to hear it!

But please remember to stay the right side of copyright law and keep it legal by posting official videos only. Thank you!

Hallelujah

It’s Music Monday!

Today’s clip is a little bit unusual for this blog. However, I can’t think of anything better to celebrate the return of my laptop to very good health, as well as me finally getting the better of this cold that’s been bugging me for over two weeks. You’ll know this piece, I promise you. It’s a classic. And it’s jubilance and power are simply awesome. Enjoy!

If you’ve read Sophie’s Turn, you might recall that a classical choir has some significant importance in there somewhere… so really, this is actually quite topical, if admittedly slightly extraordinary.

How about you? Can you be a musical chameleon and pick music of any kind that expresses your mood?

As always, I welcome your musical responses–just simply keep them official and legit, thank you!

Missing You

It’s Music Monday!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a great start to the week! I’m posting today’s song for three reasons.

One, it’s a classic, as far as I’m concerned (obviously).

Two, we had some very special friends visiting over the weekend. We don’t see them very often and it was painful and bitter-sweet to waive them goodbye at the door, watching them drive off, not knowing when we’ll see them again.

And three, I am still without my darling laptop and I am feeling the pain. Greatly.

So here goes, for everyone who’s missing someone or something…

Rock on. Isn’t it gorgeous? Makes me go soft and gooey every time, the pain and the contradiction, the defiance and acknowledgement:

I ain’t missing you at all (missing you!)

Perfectly expressed. Do you have a bittersweet feel-good song? I’d love to hear about it.

If you do choose to embed a link, please respect the artist’s copyright and keep my blog safe by using only official sources, e.g. a video uploaded by the band itself or by VEVO. I reserve the right to delete clips from dubious sources. 🙂

Fix you

It’s Music Monday!

And it’s only by the gracious consent of my computer retailer that I am able to post for you today. You see, I gave my long-suffering laptop in for repair yesterday. I’m a little stuck, however, on this barely half-equipped loan computer so I need all the good vibes to get my precious darling fixed as soon as possible.

What better song, therefore, than this one? Please send your healing codes and bits and bytes to my laptop, care of **insert well-known computer manufacturer here** at this precise moment in time, that it should return to me as soon as possible because I miss it. I need it. I simply am not whole!

Do you have a fixing song? If you’d like to share, please do! However, to respect the artist’s rights and keep me and my blog safe, may I kindly request that you post or embeds links only to music uploaded by the artist directly or an official representative, such as VEVO. Thank you–this way, everybody is happy. 🙂
