Welcome back, and happy Monday. Hope this will be a great week for you all!
Now between you and me, I’ve had a bit of a turbulent weekend. Somehow, nothing was going right for anyone at this end. You know how it goes, one thing leads to another, and however hard you try, you can’t turn the day around. It’s hard, sometimes, not to feel a little disheartened!
Imagine my delight when, completely by accident, I stumbled across this song in my CD collection. It nearly always gives me goosebumps, and it brought back to me every last second of the joy and anticipation of expecting a child, and all the dreams you carry, all the promises you make. It reminded me that life is blessed, and that these little home-bound mood hurricanes are nothing but a storm that will blow over. After all, what’s that they sing? “I’ll show you love, I’ll show you everything…” This shall be my Creed.
So I ended the weekend on a happy mood after all, and I thought this made the song deserving of sharing today. Kick back and enjoy.
How about you? Have you got any mood-turnaround songs like this that remind you about what’s really important in life?
PS–and if you’ve picked this up on Sunday night, then let that be an indication of what my weekend has been like, teeehee! Because of course I totally hit ‘publish’ by accident. Hey ho, I’ll leave it be and see if anyone comments…
And I’m still celebrating!. After last Thursday’s launch party extravaganza, I have been left with a feeling of buzzy euphoria. And there’s really only one song that fits the mood… I’d never thought I’d post Lady GaGa right here, but there it is. Join in and have fun!
And I’m walking on sunshine here. I don’t care what the weather is actually like, this is going to be one amazing week. Probably not far off being as amazing as getting married or giving birth. In a roundabout way, I’m probably doing both again, although in reverse order, but still with a big party to mark the occasion.
First, I’m going to give birth to my first ever traditionally published book this coming Thursday… and thereby I am officially getting married to my career as an author. Yup, that wasn’t really real before but it sure will be now. Weird, huh?
Anyway, enough of that. I’m walking on sunshine, and don’t it feel good?
I am the total feel-good blog this week. And if this clip has put you in a good mood, don’t forget to come back on Thursday for the REAL party… rock on, my friends. 🙂
What did you do the first time you heard Katrina and the Waves? I remember dancing like mad at a school party…
If you’ve read Friday’s post, you’ll totally get this. Visualise me dancing and singing at top volume: I’m So Excited! Obviously the lyrics only partially fit but the sentiment is totally apt. It’s really real, it’s happening, the paperbacks are here and: only 10 days to go………… I will be counting the hours next. 🙂
Evidently, this is a classic, harking way back to my teenage years! Do you have an ‘excited’ song from ‘way back when’?
Today, I want to share with you my summer-moving-to-Lincoln memory song. I didn’t realise that this was my theme song for this particular event in my life until a recent family holiday in Wales, where the local radio station woefully neglected to play this song even ONCE in a week.
Upon hitting Lincolnshire, the lovely Lincs FM thankfully obliged almost immediately, and it was that moment that sparked the recognition that not only were we coming home, but that also this song had somehow become the theme song for the Wells family move and the start of a new era in our lives.
It’s a bit happy-go-lucky and I leave you to make your mind up about the video and the lyrics… But the chorus, boy, doesn’t it make you want to sing along at the top of your voice?
Happy Monday. And remember: We are young. Always!
**The official video has been suspended at some point since this post went live, and it is no longer available via YouTube. Apologies.** Do you have any special theme songs for moments in your life?
Welcome to a late edition of Music Monday! Let’s call it… TUNEFUL TUESDAY!
Yup, I gave up yesterday’s customary Music Monday slot to a fabulous guest post by the amazing Talli Roland–I hope you enjoyed!! But I still wanted to share with you my song of the week.
This one is highly appropriate, totally topical and just fantastic. Why did it come to the forefront of my mind at this particular time? Oooh, I don’t know. Probably something to do with finishing the absolutely rockin’ masterplan for Book #3 in the Rock Star Romance Trilogy. Or mabye something to do with finishing proofing Sophie’s Turn, Book #1… Or maybe it’s just… I don’t know, something from deep within my psyche, hee hee!
What do I love about this song? Let’s see. I love the mellow rock tune, the very anthem potential underpinned by somewhat cynical lyrics. Totally up my street!
So, I want you all to join in in the spirit of the video: let’s hear it!
What’s your favourite line in this song? Do you have any favourite cynical, satirical or downright funny favourite songs? Protest songs, perhaps? Let’s have them!
And to celebrate the school holidays and the sunshine, I’ve got a new logo (created once again by my nifty husband, who clearly rocks!) and a fitting song. Actually, make that two! No more need for rainy day songs as the jetstream has finally shifted, it appears. So here goes… a double treat. First, a classic. And second, one of my all-time favourites, even if it sounds a little bittersweet… that’s the Scorps for you!
Now you’ve bopped along happily, check out this, a more mellow tune….
What are you up to in this, the first week of the school holidays? Do the school holidays even matter to you? Where are you headed this year? (More about my plans soon….) XX 🙂
And today, I have the pleasure of bringing you a very special edition indeed! Music Monday has teamed up with Inkspell Publishing to bring you the Cover Reveal for Stephanie Keyes’ debut novel, The Star Child. Are you ready? Drumroll and… Here It Is:
Isn’t it fantastic? Now let’s find out more aboutThe Star Child:
The world is about to be cloaked in darkness. Only one can stop the night.
Kellen St. James has spent his entire life being overlooked as an unwanted, ordinary, slightly geeky kid. That is until a beautiful girl, one who has haunted his dreams for the past eleven years of his life, shows up spinning tales of a prophecy. Not just any old prophecy either, but one in which Kellen plays a key role.
Suddenly, Kellen finds himself on the run through a Celtic underworld of faeries and demons, angels and gods, not to mention a really ticked off pack of hellhounds, all in order to save the world from darkness. But will they make it in time?
The Star Child is due for release in e-book and paperback edition on 21st September!!!
And here’s some background on Stephanie Keyes, the author behind this book:
Stephanie Keyes was born in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania and has worked for the past twelve years as a corporate educator and curriculum designer in the Telecommunications industry. She holds a Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Instructional Technology from Duquesne University and a B.S. in Management Information Systems from Robert Morris University. She is a classically trained clarinetist, but also plays the saxophone and sings. When she’s not writing, she is a wife to a wonderfully supportive husband and mother to two little boys whom she cites as her inspiration for all things writing. The Star Childis Mrs. Keyes’ debut novel.
Find out more about Stephanie at her website, find her on Facebook or follow her on Twitter! Stephanie is also a fellow featured author at loveahappyending.com and you can visit her author page there.
Congratulations, Steph, on a fabulous cover and I am so excited to be part of the reveal blog hop!
Now then… this **is** a Music Monday Special and I believe you have something to share without about the musical inspiration behind your writing….?
Absolutely! Music to me is integral when I’m writing and I am writing in the middle of a huge project. It’s the second book in The Star Child series, The Fallen Stars. As hooked into this project as I am, there is one song that I go to over and over again to set the mood for writing about Kellen and Calienta’s journey. That’s Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. It’s got is all. Intense lyrics, hard bass line, and a little Celtic-style flute. There’s much more to come with those two.
In the meantime, check out this link and listen to what’s been inspiring me…
Fabulous! This is a new band for me but, having read The Star Child, I can see how the music is reflected in the mood and atmosphere…Very powerful stuff!
To celebrate the cover reveal for The Star Child, the folks over at Inkspell are offering a glorious give-away!
Check out this celtic knot designed antiqued bookmark – Will go very very well indeed with this book!
The give-away is open to USA and UK residents: enter here… and good luck!
Wow, what a post! Cover reveal, music and give-away all rolled into one: fantabulous. What do you make of the cover, dear reader? And Steph’s music clip, for that matter? Don’t they just put you in the mood for an enchanting fantasy read?
Yes, Music Monday is back (you’re welcome to cheer… ah yes, I heard that, thank you!)! And once again it is tinged by my reflections on life and my recent experiences. The Wells family has spent its first non-unpacking weekend in the new family home in Lincolnshire, and we’ve had our first visitors from Bristol, some of our closest family friends. It was hard to say who was most excited, the parents or the children! Needless to say, there were tears and a sense of renewed bereft-ness when the visitors had to leave. And as I was explaining to the boys that the visit was a wonderful occasion, a confirmation that we would alwaysbe friends with the many folks we’ve left behind, the inspiration for this Music Monday came to me.
Moreover, as I’m reading through recent comments on my blog, I’m also realising how many wonderful friends I have acquired in the blogosphere, and this is post is to say “thank you” and “I really appreciate your support.”
Being already overcome all sentimental, I also am reminded that I am lucky enough to have a few friends scattered all over the world, back in Germany and even in the States, who remain friends even though we rarely ever see each other. Yet when we do, we pick up right where we left. These friendships are truly the fabric of my life, my safety net, my cocoon.
So without further sentimental ramblings or additional ado, I give you an ode to everlasting friendship…
Friends Will Be Friends by Queen!
Another red letter day / So the pound has dropped and the children are creating / The other half ran away / Taking all the cash and leaving you with the lumber / Got a pain in the chest / Doctors on strike what you need is a rest.
It’s not easy love, but you’ve got friends you can trust / Friends will be friends / When you’re in need of love they give you care and attention / Friends will be friends / When you’re through with life and all hope is lost / Hold out your hand cos friends will be friends right till the end.
Now it’s a beautiful day / The postman delivered a letter from your lover / Only a phone call away / You tried to track him down but somebody stole his number / As a matter of fact / You’re getting used to life without him in your way.
It’s so easy now, cos you got friends you can trust / Friends will be friends / When you’re in need of love they give you care and attention / Friends will be friends / When you’re through with life and all hope is lost / Hold out your hand cos friends will be friends right till the end.
It’s so easy now, cos you got friends you can trust….
When do you count most on your friends? Have you got cross-country or even cross-continent friendships that simply last a lifetime? I’d love to hear about it if you don’t mind sharing! 🙂 x
Music Monday: today with a home moving theme (sort of!)…
As all matters ‘house’ and ‘moving’ are dominating my life right now, I thought I’d share some of the joy and excitement with you with a classic song sporting a totally apt title. I opted for the original rather than the fancy version on top of Buck House… And please imagine me singing at top volume as I direct the movers and supervise the Madness!
